On CellarCool's Ceiling Mount, split and Ultimate models, E1 means the bottle probe is unplugged, badly connected at the PB1 terminal or defective. On the CX through-wall series the same code means the air-sensing probe has failed. Either way the controller stops reading the cellar and falls back to a timed pattern, 10 minutes off and 40 minutes on, until the probe is fixed. CellarCool wine cellar cooling unit display · also shown as “E1” What to do when E1 shows on the wine cellar cooling unit ### Kind of code Sensors and probes The controller has lost a sensible reading from one of its probes: the one sampling the cellar air, the one on the evaporator coil, or on a remote probe the lead that runs out to a rack. With no number it can trust, the unit may chill the room well below 55°F, stop and start every few minutes, or run on without end. Identify your series from the rating plate: CX units sense air, the others use a probe in a bottle of liquid. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Does E1 mean the same thing on every CellarCool? Not quite. On a CX through-wall unit it is the air-sensing probe; on Ceiling Mount, split and Ultimate models it is the bottle probe. ### How long can a CellarCool run on the E1 timed cycle? It will keep cycling indefinitely, but the timer cannot react to a hot day or a door left open. Treat it as a stopgap until the probe is replaced. ### Why does my CellarCool E1 code not show in the alarm list?
