# CellarPro HA: the cellar has been above 70°F for over an hour

HA is CellarPro's high temperature alarm.

## What HA actually means.

HA is CellarPro's high temperature alarm. With factory settings it triggers when the cellar stays above 70°F for more than an hour, with a red light and a tone. CellarPro's first checks are the seals, a door left open and the temperature around the unit. The alarm is held off for the first 23 hours after the unit is plugged in or switched on.

What to do when HA shows on the wine cellar cooling unit

### Kind of code Temperature and alarms

The controller saw the cellar go past a high or low limit and raised an alarm, sometimes holding the worst reading it logged while the house was empty. The reason can be as small as the cellar door left ajar after a tasting or a long outage, a room gaining heat from new lights or a sunny glass wall, or as serious as cooling that has stopped. Keep the door shut and read a thermometer on a middle rack before touching anything; the alarm is a warning about the collection, not yet a diagnosis.

### Usually leads to Cellar cooling load and room check

Measuring the cellar as the cooling unit sees it: insulation, vapor barrier, door, glass and the heat load, to show whether the unit can ever keep up.

### Shows up as Wine Cellar Too Warm

A wine cellar too warm shows up slowly: the room smells of the house instead of cool stone, a bottle picked from a middle rack feels barely cooler than your hand, and the wall thermometer has crept from the mid 50s into the 60s over a week.

## Before you book, in this order.

Each step comes from CellarPro's own guidance for HA on its wine cellar cooling units. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Make sure the cellar door is shut and its seal is intact, and look for any other air leak into the room.

02

Move the most valuable bottles somewhere cooler if the room stays above about 70°F.

03

Check the space behind the unit; if it is hot, cool it with ventilation or a fan.

04

Look for HA2 or P1 on the panel as well, then book a visit if the unit is running and the cellar still warms.

### Still there?

It usually turns into [cellar cooling load and room check](https://winecellarrepair.center/services/cellar-cooling-load-and-room-check/). Book with the code and the model number.

### What not to do

HA is a warning about the cellar, not a code for one failed part. A new unit pulling down a warm cellar will not show it for its first 23 hours.

## Questions about HA.

### Can I clear HA myself?

Make sure the cellar door is shut and its seal is intact, and look for any other air leak into the room. If it comes back, it needs a visit.

### Can I change the CellarPro HA limit?

Yes, in the advanced settings. CellarPro recommends leaving it at the factory 70°F.

### Why did my CellarPro show HA after the power came back?

The alarm is suppressed for 23 hours after the unit is plugged in or turned on, so HA after an outage normally means the cellar is still warm after that window.

### Is HA on a CellarPro a sign the unit is failing?

Not always. A door left open or a hot room behind the unit can cause it; if both check out and the unit runs constantly, it needs a visit.
