E3 appears on SC PRO and Slimline LS through-wall units, whose controller also measures the condenser coil. That reading drives the COH protection that stops the compressor when the coil runs hot. With E3 showing, the controller can no longer see the condenser temperature, so that protection is blind. WhisperKOOL wine cellar cooling unit display · also shown as “E3” What to do when E3 shows on the wine cellar cooling unit ### Kind of code Sensors and probes The controller has lost a sensible reading from one of its probes: the one sampling the cellar air, the one on the evaporator coil, or on a remote probe the lead that runs out to a rack. With no number it can trust, the unit may chill the room well below 55°F, stop and start every few minutes, or run on without end. Make sure the exhaust side of the unit is clear and the room behind it is not hot, since the unit cannot warn you about it now. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Which WhisperKOOL models show E3? The SC PRO and Slimline LS through-the-wall units, which read a third probe on the condenser. The digital controller on split and ducted models has no E3. ### Is E3 on a WhisperKOOL urgent? Not by itself, but the unit can no longer protect itself from a hot condenser. Keep the exhaust space cool and book a visit soon. ### Can I see the WhisperKOOL condenser temperature myself? On the SC PRO you can scroll to Pb3 by pressing SET.
