What !1
actually means.

!1 means the manual-reset high-pressure switch has opened. It protects the compressor when head pressure climbs, which almost always follows poor airflow across the condenser: a filter packed with dust, a blocked grille or a crushed duct. The system stays off, and the code stays on the screen, until someone presses the reset button on the switch.

What to do when !1 shows on the wine cellar cooling unit

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Wine Guardian's own guidance for !1 on its wine cellar cooling units. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Turn the system off at the remote or local controller and keep the cellar door closed so the room holds its temperature longer.

02

Look at the condenser side for a clogged inlet filter, a blocked grille or a collapsed duct; the filter is washable and slides out from the face of the coil.

03

Only after the blockage is cleared, reset the red button as your model's manual shows (behind the condenser-side cover on through-the-wall units, near the compressor on ducted and split units), then restart.

04

If !1 comes back within a day, or you cannot find a blockage, leave the unit off and book a visit; note whether the cellar is passing 65°F.

Still there?

It usually turns into cellar compressor and sealed system repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

!1 is not a sensor or controller problem, and resetting the switch over and over does not fix it. If the cause is a failing condenser fan or an overcharged circuit, the switch will keep tripping until that part is repaired.

Questions
about !1.

Can I clear !1 myself?
Turn the system off at the remote or local controller and keep the cellar door closed so the room holds its temperature longer. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Is it safe to reset the Wine Guardian high-pressure switch myself?
Pressing the button is simple, but it is only safe after the airflow problem is found and cleared. The switch sits near the compressor or behind a condenser-side cover, so switch the unit off first and do not reach into a running fan.
Why does my Wine Guardian keep tripping !1 after a reset?
Something is still holding the pressure up: a dirty filter or coil, a blocked duct, or a condenser fan that is not running. Repeated trips need a technician with gauges.
Will my wine be at risk while !1 is on the screen?
Yes, slowly. With the compressor off the cellar drifts toward the temperature of the surrounding space, so keep the door shut and watch the reading until the unit is cooling again.

Still showing !1?

When you book, type the code or the blink count as the controller shows it, add the full model number, and say what the thermometer in the cellar reads now — that gives the technician a head start.
