What AL
actually means.

AL is KoolR's one alarm and its upper safety limit. When the room passes 72°F, the unit shuts down, beeps and blinks AL in turn with the temperature. The alarm is ignored for a cool-down period after plug-in or a reset, and the unit restarts and goes back to cycling once the room falls below 72°F.

What to do when AL shows on the wine cellar cooling unit

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from KoolR's own guidance for AL on its wine cellar cooling units. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Keep the cellar door closed, and move the most valuable bottles if the room is well above 70°F.

02

Check the warm side: KoolR needs the neighboring room to be interior, air-conditioned and between 65°F and 80°F, with nothing blocking the grille.

03

Unplug the unit, vacuum the condenser at the back and the evaporator on the cold side, then plug it back in after 10 minutes, as KoolR's alarm page describes.

04

If AL returns, KoolR's advice is to disconnect power during an alarm, so leave it unplugged and book a visit.

Still there?

It usually turns into cellar cooling load and room check. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

AL on a KoolR is not a sensor warning or a settings reminder; the unit has actually stopped cooling. It is also held off during the first hours after plug-in, so a warm room right after installation will not show it yet.

Questions
about AL.

Can I clear AL myself?
Keep the cellar door closed, and move the most valuable bottles if the room is well above 70°F. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why did my KoolR restart on its own after AL?
KoolR designed the alarm to release once the room falls back below 72°F, so the unit resumes cycling by itself. Find out why the room warmed before the next hot day.
Why didn't AL appear when my new KoolR could not cool the room?
The alarm is ignored during the first cool-down, 4 hours according to the controller sheet and 12 hours according to the Use & Care Guide. That is why KoolR asks owners to watch a new unit closely for its first 12 hours.
What usually trips AL on a KoolR?
KoolR's guidance points to the room taking the exhaust, dirty coils and poorly insulated cellars, bare concrete floors above all. A unit venting into a closet, a garage or outdoors is outside what KoolR allows.

Still showing AL?

When you book, type the code or the blink count as the controller shows it, add the full model number, and say what the thermometer in the cellar reads now — that gives the technician a head start.
