What HA
actually means.

HA is the high temperature alarm. With the factory settings it comes on when the cellar reads more than 10° above the setpoint for longer than a 60-minute delay, and not during the first 23 hours after start-up. Cooling carries on as before, and the alarm clears itself once the temperature comes back down.

What to do when HA shows on the wine cellar cooling unit

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Wine-Mate's own guidance for HA on its wine cellar cooling units. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Keep the cellar door shut and confirm the reading with a separate thermometer.

02

Check that the exhaust side has its 3 feet of clear space and that the condenser is not matted with dust.

03

Look at the evaporator for ice; Wine-Mate lists an iced coil among the causes of a warm cellar, and the defrost key starts a manual defrost.

04

If the room keeps climbing toward 70°F, move the most valuable bottles and book a visit.

Still there?

It usually turns into cellar cooling load and room check. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

HA does not mean the unit has shut down, because the outputs stay as they were. If CA is showing, or the display is dark, the unit is not cooling at all.

What you may
notice with it.

Questions
about HA.

Can I clear HA myself?
Keep the cellar door shut and confirm the reading with a separate thermometer. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why did HA not appear until my cellar had been warm for an hour?
Wine-Mate delays its temperature alarms by 60 minutes by default and holds them off for 23 hours after start-up, so a short warm spell after the door is opened does not set them off.
Can a Wine-Mate call my phone when HA comes on?
Units fitted with the alarm call option send a spoken notice when the cellar passes the high or low limit. Wine-Mate suggests testing it by setting both alarm delays to zero, then restoring 60 minutes and 23 hours.
Does HA mean my Wine-Mate is low on refrigerant?
Not necessarily. Wine-Mate's own chart lists poor insulation, a restricted exhaust, a dirty condenser and fan problems alongside leaks, and those are quicker to rule out before gauges go on.

Still showing HA?

When you book, type the code or the blink count as the controller shows it, add the full model number, and say what the thermometer in the cellar reads now — that gives the technician a head start.
