What POF
actually means.

POF is not an alarm. On the five-button Wine-Mate controller, holding the up and down keys together until POF appears locks the keypad, so the settings cannot be changed by accident. Holding the same two keys until PON appears unlocks it.

What to do when POF shows on the wine cellar cooling unit

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Wine-Mate's own guidance for POF on its wine cellar cooling units. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

If the buttons seem to do nothing, press and hold up and down together until PON appears.

02

Check the setpoint afterward by pressing and releasing SET.

03

If the keys still do not respond once unlocked, book a visit to check the controller.

Cleared?

The controller has stopped showing the code and the cellar is drifting back to its set point without any new part. If the code returns within the week, or the room creeps warm again, book a visit and tell us it came back.

What not to do

A locked keypad is not a dead controller; Wine-Mate describes the lock as affecting the keys only. A completely dark display is a different problem that starts with power.

What you may
notice with it.

The wine cellar cooling unit problems POF tends to arrive with. Answer these at the wine cellar cooling unit before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

Something the controller was told to do, not a part that wore out: a display switched between Fahrenheit and Celsius so 13 looks alarming, a set point or differential changed by someone leaning on the keys, a keypad lock that ignores every press, a standby state left on after a power cut, a reminder that service is due. The unit is fine, and the controller's own keys or its manual put it back.

Questions
about POF.

Can I clear POF myself?
If the buttons seem to do nothing, press and hold up and down together until PON appears.
Why won't my Wine-Mate let me change the temperature?
The keypad may be locked. Hold up and down together until PON appears, then change the setpoint by holding SET until the degree light flashes.
Does locking the keypad change how the Wine-Mate cools?
Wine-Mate describes the lock as locking the keys, and the stored setpoint and settings stay as they were. It is a way to stop accidental changes, not a power switch.
Which Wine-Mate controllers use POF and PON?
The five-button controller in the current HZD, HTD, low-profile and split-system manuals. The older display on VINO- units does not list these messages.

Back to your everyday

Still showing POF?

When you book, type the code or the blink count as the controller shows it, add the full model number, and say what the thermometer in the cellar reads now — that gives the technician a head start.
