What LO
actually means.

LO is the low temperature counterpart of HI on Wine-Mate's earlier controller. It flashes when the cellar reads colder than the set limit and resets itself once the temperature comes back within it.

What to do when LO shows on the wine cellar cooling unit

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Wine-Mate's own guidance for LO on its wine cellar cooling units. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Press the set button for one second to see the setpoint and confirm it has not been set too low.

02

Keep in mind that this older manual says Wine-Mate units are not for use below 50°F, and a cold basement can pull the room down with the unit idle.

03

Check the cellar with a separate thermometer to see whether the reading is real.

04

If the unit keeps running while the room is cold, book a visit.

Still there?

It usually turns into cellar cooling load and room check. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

LO on this display is a low temperature warning, not a sign of a broken sensor. Current Wine-Mate controllers show the same warning as LA.

What you may
notice with it.

Questions
about LO.

Can I clear LO myself?
Press the set button for one second to see the setpoint and confirm it has not been set too low. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Does LO mean my older Wine-Mate is chilling the wine too far?
It means the reading is below your set limit, which may be only a few degrees under the setpoint. Check the room with a thermometer before assuming anything is near freezing.
Why does LO show up in winter?
When the space around the cellar gets cold, the room can fall below the limit even with the compressor off. The unit only cools, so the answer is warmth around or in the cellar rather than a change at the unit.
Will LO clear by itself on the older Wine-Mate?
Yes. The older manual says the alarm resets automatically when the temperature returns within the set limit.

Still showing LO?

When you book, type the code or the blink count as the controller shows it, add the full model number, and say what the thermometer in the cellar reads now — that gives the technician a head start.
