What CA
actually means.

CA is the external alarm. When the controller's input is set up as an alarm and that input trips, all outputs go off, so the unit stops cooling. With the input configured as i1F=PAL, the alarm does not clear by itself, and the controller has to be switched off and on again.

What to do when CA shows on the wine cellar cooling unit

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Wine-Mate's own guidance for CA on its wine cellar cooling units. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Find out what, if anything, your installer wired to the controller's alarm input; if you know of nothing there, the wiring or the input setting is what needs checking.

02

Clear the cause if it is obvious and safe, then switch the controller off and on with its power key.

03

Keep the cellar door shut while the unit is off.

04

If CA comes back, book a visit to check the controller wiring and settings.

It usually turns into wine cellar cooling diagnostic visit. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

CA is not a temperature alarm, and the room may be sitting at a perfect 55°F when it appears. It is also different from a dark display, which points to power or the controller itself.

What you may
notice with it.

Questions
about CA.

Can I clear CA myself?
Find out what, if anything, your installer wired to the controller's alarm input; if you know of nothing there, the wiring or the input setting is what needs checking. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
What can trigger CA on a Wine-Mate?
Whatever is connected to the controller's alarm input. Wine-Mate's manual defines only the result, all outputs off, so the device or wiring on that input has to be traced at the unit.
Will CA clear on its own?
Not when the input is set as i1F=PAL; Wine-Mate says it recovers only when the controller is switched off and on. The manual does not describe the other input settings.
Is it safe to keep resetting CA?
Once, after checking what is connected to the input, is reasonable. If it trips again, the cellar goes without cooling each time, so book a visit rather than cycling the power repeatedly.

Back to your everyday

Still showing CA?

When you book, type the code or the blink count as the controller shows it, add the full model number, and say what the thermometer in the cellar reads now — that gives the technician a head start.
