What E7
actually means.

E7 is a communication code on WhisperKOOL's digital controller. The keypad you see in or outside the cellar talks to the circuit board in the unit through a display cable, and E7 appears when that link has been silent for a full minute. The cable, its plugs at both ends and the keypad itself are the suspects.

What to do when E7 shows on the wine cellar cooling unit

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from WhisperKOOL's own guidance for E7 on its wine cellar cooling units. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Check that the display cable is plugged in at the keypad and, if you can reach it safely, at the unit.

02

Look along the cable for a kink, a staple through it or a frayed section.

03

If E7 persists with the cable intact, book a visit to test the cable, keypad and board.

What not to do

E7 does not describe the cooling system; the unit may still be running. It only means the screen cannot reach the board to show or change settings.

Questions
about E7.

Can I clear E7 myself?
Check that the display cable is plugged in at the keypad and, if you can reach it safely, at the unit. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Is my WhisperKOOL still cooling with E7 on the screen?
It may be. E7 is about the keypad link, so check for air moving from the unit and a steady cellar temperature.
Can a long display cable cause E7 on a WhisperKOOL?
A long run gives more chances for damage, such as a kink or a staple. WhisperKOOL's own check is the cable's condition at both ends and along its length.
Does SC PRO show E7?
E7 is listed for the digital controller used on Platinum Split, Ceiling Mount, Extreme tiR and Phantom models, not in the SC PRO alarm table.

Back to your everyday

Still showing E7?

When you book, type the code or the blink count as the controller shows it, add the full model number, and say what the thermometer in the cellar reads now — that gives the technician a head start.
