CellarCool wine cellar cooling units,
specifically.

CellarCool makes the CX through-the-wall series, fully ducted Ultimate units, fully ducted, Magnum and Flex split systems, and Ceiling Mount splits such as the CM2500. Its compact CX units read the air rather than a bottle, so the same code can mean something different from one CellarCool model to the next, and we read it against the series first.

The CellarCool lineup

What is particular
to CellarCool.

We service CX 2200 to 4400 through-wall units, Ultimate and Ultimate Plus fully ducted units, fully ducted, Magnum and Flex split systems, and CM2500 and larger Ceiling Mount splits. CX units carry a simpler controller with three codes, while the split and ducted models share a longer alarm list.

CX units fit old wall openings

CellarCool builds its CX series as a direct replacement for Breezaire and Wine Mate through-the-wall units. That means many CX units we meet went into an opening sized for another brand, and the fit and exhaust clearance get checked along with the unit.

Air probe on CX, bottle probe on the rest

The CX controller measures cellar air and alarms 10 degrees from the setpoint, while CellarCool's split and ducted controllers use a bottle probe and tighter alarms. An AH1 on a CX is a larger drift than an AH1 on a CM2500.

The unit stops when the drip tray is full

Split and ducted CellarCool controllers watch the drain and show EA when water is not leaving. The unit will not run until the tray level drops, so a clogged line or a stalled pump warms the cellar as well as wetting it.

Circuit and exhaust come first

CellarCool asks for a dedicated 110V, 20-amp circuit and a cool exhaust space. A unit that clicks without starting, or cools poorly on a hot day, often traces to the circuit or the room it breathes into.

Parts

Probes, drain pumps and controllers are matched to the series. For split systems, condensing units and coils are ordered after the first visit measures the charge and airflow.

Repair or replace

Drain, probe and controller codes lead to ordinary repairs. On an older CX unit with a compressor that no longer starts on a sound dedicated circuit, we price repair against a like-for-like replacement for the same opening.

Questions about
CellarCool wine cellar cooling units.

Why does my CellarCool CX show E1 even though the cellar is cold?
On a CX, E1 points at the air-sensing probe, not a bottle probe. The unit falls back to a fixed on and off cycle, so the room can stay cool for a while even though the control has lost its reading.
Does a CellarCool need its own circuit?
Yes. CellarCool asks for a dedicated 110V line on a 20-amp breaker, because the unit draws much more current at start-up than while running. Other loads on the same circuit can keep it from starting.
What should I do if my CellarCool leaks water?
CellarCool says to unplug the unit when water comes from anywhere but the drain line. Then keep the water away from racks and outlets and book a visit, since the cause is often a clogged drain or a cellar that is not sealed.
How high should a CellarCool unit be on the wall?
CellarCool asks that the top of a through-the-wall unit sit no lower than 18 inches from the ceiling, and a split evaporator no lower than 6 inches. A unit mounted low keeps mixing cold air near the floor.
