What HI
actually means.

HI flashes when the temperature input goes above 99°F. A cellar anywhere near that hot would normally have tripped the overheat shutdown first, so we test the sensor, its connection and the position of any bottle probe before anything else.

What to do when HI shows on the wine cellar cooling unit

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Breezaire's own guidance for HI on its wine cellar cooling units. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Check the cellar with a separate thermometer to see whether the room is actually hot.

02

If a bottle probe is fitted, make sure it has not ended up near the warm exhaust side or a light fixture.

03

Do a manual reset by holding WARMER for at least 5 seconds and see whether the reading comes back to normal.

04

If HI stays, book a visit to test the sensor.

Still there?

It usually turns into cellar controller and sensor repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

HI is not the AL warning, which flashes when a working sensor sees the cellar above your alarm point. If the room really is hot and the unit has stopped, the display shows OH.

What you may
notice with it.

The wine cellar cooling unit problems HI tends to arrive with. Answer these at the wine cellar cooling unit before anyone is booked.

Every code on this site is taken from the manufacturer's documentation, never from a forum or a parts listing. Sentry III and Sentry III Plus controllers on WKL through-the-wall units and WKSL split systems. Older WKS splits built before mid-2010 used a manual thermostat and show none of these codes.

Questions
about HI.

Can I clear HI myself?
Check the cellar with a separate thermometer to see whether the room is actually hot. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Can a Breezaire show HI while the cellar is cool?
Yes, because HI only means the input is over 99°F. A thermometer in the room settles whether the problem is the reading or the room.
Could a bottle probe cause HI on a Breezaire?
A probe cord routed past the warm side of the unit or near a hot fixture can read far above the room. Moving it and checking the display again is a quick first test.
Should the Sentry III controller be replaced for HI?
Not before the sensor is tested. Breezaire sells the controller and shows how to swap it, but a bad sensor or connection is a simpler place to start.

Back to your everyday

Still showing HI?

When you book, type the code or the blink count as the controller shows it, add the full model number, and say what the thermometer in the cellar reads now — that gives the technician a head start.
