What OH
actually means.

OH is the Sentry III's overheat protection. When the storage temperature goes above 75°F after the first cooling cycle, the controller stops the unit, flashes OH in turn with the temperature and holds it off for at least 30 minutes. Breezaire ties it to blocked airflow at the warm side, which can make a unit heat the cellar instead of cooling it.

What to do when OH shows on the wine cellar cooling unit

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Breezaire's own guidance for OH on its wine cellar cooling units. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Keep the cellar door shut, and move the most valuable bottles if the room is above about 70°F.

02

With the unit unplugged, clear anything within 3 feet of the exhaust grille and vacuum the condenser coil with a brush attachment.

03

After the 30-minute hold, restart with a manual reset by holding WARMER for at least 5 seconds; it only restarts below 75°F.

04

If OH returns, book a visit, since Breezaire's own advice for a repeat shutdown is to get help.

Still there?

It usually turns into cellar cooling load and room check. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

OH is not a sensor problem; the sensor is reading a cellar that really is hot. A broken sensor shows Er, and a reading beyond what the sensor can measure shows HI.

What you may
notice with it.

In Breezaire's own words

the unit will automatically shut off after 20 minutes, and the display will alternately flash “OH” and the temperature.

Every code on this site is taken from the manufacturer's documentation, never from a forum or a parts listing. Sentry III and Sentry III Plus controllers on WKL through-the-wall units and WKSL split systems. Older WKS splits built before mid-2010 used a manual thermostat and show none of these codes.

Questions
about OH.

Can I clear OH myself?
Keep the cellar door shut, and move the most valuable bottles if the room is above about 70°F. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
What usually sets off OH on a Breezaire?
Breezaire links the shutdown to a blocked condenser or a failed fan: a dusty coil, a closet or small room taking the exhaust, or something stacked against the warm grille. We check those before anything inside the sealed system.
How long before a Breezaire restarts after OH?
It stays off for at least 30 minutes. After that, a manual reset or unplugging and plugging it back in restarts it, but only if the cellar has fallen below 75°F.
Why did my Breezaire show OH during a heat wave?
Breezaire says output falls once the space around the cellar runs more than 25°F warmer than the cellar itself. A hot week in the room that takes the exhaust can push a borderline installation over the limit.

Still showing OH?

When you book, type the code or the blink count as the controller shows it, add the full model number, and say what the thermometer in the cellar reads now — that gives the technician a head start.
