What AL1
actually means.

AL1 uses the same margin as AH1 on each CellarCool series, just below the setpoint instead of above. CellarCool's first check is whether the unit is still cooling: if the snowflake is lit, the unit is overshooting; if not, the cellar is losing heat to a cold space and needs warming from outside the unit.

What to do when AL1 shows on the wine cellar cooling unit

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from CellarCool's own guidance for AL1 on its wine cellar cooling units. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Look for the snowflake on the display; if it is lit while the cellar is already cold, switch the unit off and book a visit.

02

If the unit is idle, warm the room gently until the wine returns to the setpoint.

03

Check the probe against a known thermometer; CellarCool's digital controller manuals include a probe calibration check in the user menu.

It usually turns into cellar cooling load and room check. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

AL1 alone does not mean refrigerant or compressor trouble. In winter it is often just the cellar's surroundings.

What you may
notice with it.

The wine cellar cooling unit problems AL1 tends to arrive with. Answer these at the wine cellar cooling unit before anyone is booked.

Questions
about AL1.

Can I clear AL1 myself?
Look for the snowflake on the display; if it is lit while the cellar is already cold, switch the unit off and book a visit. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Can a CellarCool heat the cellar?
No. CellarCool's answer to AL1 is to add heat to the room itself.
Why would a CellarCool keep cooling below its setpoint?
A probe out of its bottle or out of calibration, or a relay that does not release, can keep it running. That needs a visit.
Is AL1 on a CellarCool CX different?
Only in the margin: the CX alarms 10° below the setpoint because it reads air.

Still showing AL1?

When you book, type the code or the blink count as the controller shows it, add the full model number, and say what the thermometer in the cellar reads now — that gives the technician a head start.
